Tanzania: Experts promote traditional African vegetables in rural districts

Last year, mobile information buses drove between Arusha and Dodoma in a campaign to inform and educate farmers about traditional vegetables.

The campaign promoted the vegetables to farmers and villagers along the route, while experts answered farmers’ questions about vegetable production and nutrition. The World Vegetable Center and several other partners collaborated on the campaign.

In two days, 25 rallies were held in villages, small towns and markets in the northern and central parts of the country.

Over 1,000 farmers received information about the importance of good quality seeds, and managing pests and diseases.
