Malawi: UNICEF screens children for malnutrition

The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, or UNICEF, will be screening children under five years of age for malnutrition in 25 of Malawi’s 28 districts.

Malawian authorities say malnutrition could be drastically decreased in the country if farmers switched from rain-fed agriculture to irrigated farming, a move authorities say would provide farmers with food throughout the year.

According to a recent report, an estimated 2.8 million Malawians are facing food shortages.
