More than 65 million people around the world have had to flee their homes due to war, persecution, violence, and human rights violations in the past year, and African countries were not immune.

The ongoing conflict in Somalia, and between South Sudan and Sudan, caused many people to flee. The chaos in Burundi and the Boko Haram crisis in Nigeria also drove a large number of refugees to neighbouring countries.
