Use chili peppers to control pests

In this week’s story from Cameroon, Mrs. Boubacar uses both tobacco leaves and chili peppers to manage pests in her stored crops. When natural pest control products are effective, these safe and readily available substances can be very valuable for farmers.

This week’s script of the week, from 1994, tells how to make a chili pepper spray for field and garden crops that manages many different kinds of insect pests. The second part of the script gives instructions for using dried or whole chili peppers to keep pests out of stored grains and seeds.

In the final part of the script, eight people from across the globe briefly tell of their experiences using chili peppers – sometimes in combination with other natural products – to manage pests.
