    Small-scale farmers in KwaZulu-Natal are doing all they can to contain an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in this South African province. While livestock are not being culled, farmers may still face losses.

    To mark World Water Day, we present a story from Tanzania about communities that have developed local water storage techniques. Working together, community members now access water from micro-dams, and are growing and selling irrigated crops and vegetables.

    Our third story shows how families living on the border of Rwanda and DRC are making the most of the better relationship between the two countries. People now move, farm and trade freely across the border in efforts to make ends meet.
