The International Women’s Media Foundation is now accepting nominations for the Courage in Journalism Award. The award honours women who have demonstrated bravery, persistence, and resilience in journalism under difficult or dangerous circumstances.

Candidates for the award must be women, as well as full-time journalists, freelancers, reporters, writers, editors, photographers, or producers working in print, broadcast, or online media. Candidates from any country and any nationality will be considered for the award.

The judging committee is looking for candidates whose work addresses taboo topics and who immerse themselves in hostile environments to share difficult truths. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to press freedom and may have overcome unjust or unfair conditions to become leaders in their field.

Winners typically receive cash prizes, which are yet to be determined, and travel to the United States to attend the award ceremonies.

All nominations must be made by non-candidates. Self-nominations will not be accepted. So if you wish to apply for this opportunity, speak to a colleague about completing the application on your behalf.

Nominations will be accepted in English, French, and Spanish.

The deadline for nominations is March 18, 2022.
