Two of this week’s Farmer stories focus on cassava mosaic virus. Our Script of the week is an issue pack which provides a wide variety of information on growing cassava. It touches on disease and pest problems in cassava, but also discusses other challenges facing cassava growers in Tanzania, soil fertility, reasons for low yields, gender and cassava, and the cassava value chain in Tanzania.
The issue pack also relates two stories about people in different parts of the cassava value chain. While the issue pack focuses on cassava in Tanzania, much of the information is relevant to other sub-Saharan African countries where cassava is grown.
The issue pack offers suggestions on formats which broadcasters can use to create radio programs on cassava. The final section of the issue pack lists sources for further information, including resource organizations, online radio programs, online videos, and online documents.
