In March 2018, the online science publication SciDev.Net launched Script, a training program for journalists and scientists.

The program aims to improve communication between scientists and journalists, increase the number of articles written about science, and improve the quality of science reporting in Africa.

Participants can include journalists who want to learn about reporting science, researchers hoping to get media coverage for their work, and science communicators. The program will help successful students get their work published in mainstream media.

The program includes:
• Free online courses
• Practical guides
• Learning through networking
• Training partnerships
• Mentoring for journalists
• Webinars

The program is available online, and will be included in communication and journalism courses at universities in sub-Saharan Africa in the coming months.
