Journalists and journalism students interested in covering sustainability and migration are eligible to apply for a two-day training program offered by the Thomson Reuters Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Foundation.

The training aims to help journalists better understand and improve their coverage of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the context of migration.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be either a journalist or a journalism student.
  • Have a maximum of five years’ experience, or have more than five years’ experience but not in covering these topics.
  • Demonstrate a marked interest in covering SDGs and migration.
  • Report at the community or national level in a context where the achievement of these goals could have an important impact.
  • Submit two samples of published work, not necessarily on the subject of SDGs or migration.
  • Apply by Sept. 28.

The training is free of charge to selected applicants; however, transportation and accommodation expenses are not covered. The training takes place in Johannesburg on Oct. 2 and 3.
